Work Responsibilities

Telecom Security division is TEC has the responsibility to assist DoT in preparation of different security policies and regulations. The major work undertaken by the division is as under:

  1. Preparation of SOP, Guidelines, Framework etc. in Telecom Security domain.
  2. Nodal division for International Standardization Activity pertaining to ITU-T Study Group 17 (Security)
  3. Operation and maintenance of IPv6 Ready Logo lab     
  4. IPv6 Conformance and interoperability testing as per IPv6 Ready Logo test specifications.
  5. Preparation of Study papers / White Papers on Telecom Security domain.
  6. Furnishing technical inputs to and attending meetings with various departments, organizations, national and international standardization bodies and other relevant bodies and other Telecom Stakeholders, as and when required.

National Working Group 17 (Security)

 ITU-T Study Group 17 (SG17) related to Security is responsible for developing international standards to enhance confidence, security and trust in the use of telecommunications/ICTs, in the context of an ever-growing attack surface and confronted with an unbalanced threat landscape.

National Working Group 17 (NWG 17) has been constituted by DoT corresponding to ITU-T Study Group 17. TS division has been entrusted with the responsibilities related to NWG 17. NWG 17 is a collaborative group of industry/academia/ start-up organisations/ R& D organisations and other subject matter experts working towards developing Indian Contributions for Study Group 17 (Security) of ITU-T.

TS division, being the nodal division for ITU-T SG17, regularly conducts NWG 17 meetings and invites contributions from all stakeholders including industry\academia, Start Ups, R&D organizations and other subject matter experts for submission for submission of contributions to ITU-T SG17 and facilitates presentation of the same to ITU-T SG 17 Meetings.
