  • Testing and Certification Agency for Conditional Access System (CAS) and Subscriber Management System (SMS) used for Broadcasting and Cable TV services as per TRAI order dated 20-09-2021.
  • Activities related to National Working Group-21 (NWG-21) corresponding to ITU-T Study Group-21 (Technologies for Multimedia, Content Delivery and Cable Television).
  • Patent tracking in the field of emerging telecom technologies.

  1. Committees in C&B divisions
    1. Development Coordination Committee (DCC): DCC is the final body for formulating and recommending the draft TEC Standard. It is headed by DDG(C&B) and consists of representatives from various stakeholders viz. DoT, C-DOT, LSAs, NTIPRIT, BBNL, TCIL, ITI, NCCS, other associated Govt.Departments/Societies, Service Providers and Associations etc.The Director(C&B) is the convener.
    2. DCC Sub-Committee (Sub-DCC): Sub-DCC is group of working level experts for drafting standard which is presented to the DCC. It is headed by the Director(C&B) and consists of Service-providers / User organizations, Laboratories (NABL accredited/TEC designated), Associations and Director level officers of DoT/TEC & other DoT Units.
    3. Manufacturers’ Forum (MF) :MF is a group constituted for a specific network element (e.g. modem, router etc.) or a system comprising of interconnected network elements (e.g. GPON System etc.) as per the requirement for furnishing relevant technical information for the concerned product/equipment/interface while formulating TEC Standard document and Test Guide. It is headed by DDG(C&B) and consists of technical representatives of manufacturers/OEMs, suppliers, representatives of a network element or a group of network elements and any related Industry Associations etc. The Director(C&B) is the convener.

 

  1. National Working Group-21

National Working Group (NWG-21) corresponds to ITU-T SG-21 on “Technologies for Multimedia, Content Delivery and Cable Television”. NWG-21is headed by DDG(C&B)and has experts from various fields like research, industry and academia etc.

There are 22 questions in the ITU-T SG21. Out of these 22 questions, following 5 questions have been identified as priority questions for contributions from India side.

(i) Q1/21: Multimedia System, service and application accessibility for digital inclusion

(ii) Q4/21: Human factors for intelligent user interface & service

(iii) Q20/21: AI enabled enhanced functions over integrated broadband cable network

(iv) Q21/21: Transmission and delivery control of television and sound program signal for contribution, primary           distribution and secondary distribution

(v) Q22/21: Methods and practices for conditional access and content protection
